The Secret Project I was working on was delivered. It was so emotional creating the plaque for this family that was paid for by people who got together to raise money, not just for the memorial, but to help with medical expenses. A Secret Group was created on FB and the whole process was documented. The following is the response of Sherry Scott-Vestal McAllister who received the plaque:
Dear Mastiff Family,
Brian, Cameron and I sat down at 5:36 pm and read every single post on this page. We have switched from laughing and crying a few times through the process. I am so amazed at the teamwork that has gone into this whole thing. We cannot thank you all enough. I think we are still in awe. The ups and downs that Chloe has had over these past few months have been a bit exhausting…. but meeting all of you along the way has been so wonderful. Mark Noll…. you did my girl justice. The painting and carving is breathtaking. I am truly amazed at how well you captured her and carved it into that piece of priceless artwork. Lauren Sorger… I cannot thank you enough for spearheading this whole thing. To all of you that have been involved… who have given so much… not just by way of money…. but for all the words of support through all of this…. I am truly humbled. Our outstanding vet bill right now is $336.46….. we will be using the funds sent to us to pay that off and pay for future medication and LOTS & LOTS & LOTS of treats!!!! Chloe has worked so hard all of her life… loving so many people. As most of you already know, Chloe has been visiting school and nursing homes her whole life. giving snuggles to people who just want to feel love. I feel her greatest work…. above all, has been with the children we have taken into our home over the years. She has helped us raise 18 foster children. She cannot handle hearing a child cry… to this day. She will walk over to them and nudge them or wack them with her paw…. she has always been amazing with children. She has dried many tears. There has always been something about her with kids…. they just bury their faces in her neck and sob. Our family has seen more sadness with children than we ever truly want to recall…. but a dog always makes a person feel safe and loved. This is Chloe’s specialty. I remember our very fist foster son, Stephen. He was so frightened to be in a strange house with people he didn’t know. That first night I tucked him into bed and we all went to sleep. I got up to check him in the middle of the night and not only had Chloe chosen to sleep on his bed that night… instead of Cameron’s…. but Stephen had crawled down to the end of the bed where Chloe was sleeping…. and they were both fast asleep on top of all the covers at the foot of the bed. I will have to look for that picture and post it here for you…. its one of my proudest memories of Chloe. She knew Stephen needed her that night. This type of behavior went on for 17 more children. She has earned her place in heaven…. she has done good work… and still does to this day. Our family loves her very much… she is a very special girl…. I thank you all for seeing her in the same light we do. Love to you all….. you are amazing.
Love,
Brian, Sherry, Cameron, Chloe, Tank, & Oliver Kitty
